The Hasseløy bridge, or the Baker island bridge connects Haugesund mainland and an island beeing an important part of early Haugesund (1830 -).
Todays bridge was ready for use in 1954. The first bridge was finished in 1872. On this picture we can see where it started on the island side just right of the little, red house.
Just right of the new bridge a large shipyard, Hauge ship yard, was an important part of establishing Haugesund as a ship building town and a shipping town. Today this area is used as a museum. The large white house under the bridge is called the Ferkingstad house, and is part of the Dokken museum.
The waterway is the northern part of the sound or strait Smedasundet. Just left of this picture we find Haugesjøen, and north of that the strait Haugesund.

These pages describe the area presented on the automatic WebCamera on the site Haugalandet Net. The webcam is operating daytime, but stops updating when dark.

We turn the camera in between to show the 3 different sceneries presented here (see links under the picture left)
