Hardangerjakten "Loyal" for fulle seil over
Slettå (16.30/4.30PM)
Havnedagene sørger for at Haugesund får besøk
av en rekke flotte, gamle båter. Årets hovedattraksjon er galeasen
"Loyal", en aldeles nydelig båt som vi her skal få anledning
å følge fra Slettå til indre kai i Haugesund. Underveis
over Slettå ble den møtt av 2 treskøyter, som eskorterte
den frem til Havnedagskaien. "Loyal" ble bygget i Rosendal i 1877 for redere
i Haugesund. Siden har den seilt på alle hav, bl.a. annet via Kapp
Horn til Chile.
Due to the Harbor days Haugesund is visited by many
beautiful boats. This years main attraction is the white, wooden galeas
"Loyal", a pearl for the eye. In today's issue you will be able to follow
it on its way from the open sea area Slettå north of Haugesund, until
it is moored on the Inner quay in Smedasundet. This is its original home
harbor, as it was built in 1877 for shipowners in Haugesund. Since then
it has sailed on most oceans, and it has rounded Cape Horn on its way to
Chile with cargo. On its way to haugesund today, it was met and escorted
by two old, wooden boats, one of them with the characteristic single cylinder
engine sound.
