The most horrible act of terrorism has
shaken the whole world. And even if it happened in America, we here on
the other side of the world were close to it. Close because of it happening
to places that we know and have visited. Close because the American people
are our friends. Close because so many Norwegians, even more of them than
here in Norway, are citizens of that country. And in the TV- and Internet
world we all live in, we were able to follow it as it happened, just as
the Americans themselves. The main Norwegian and European TV channels canceled
their normal programs and sent live from the events, and the norwegian
government decided that all flags on public buildings and places should
be at half-mast Wednesday. Today both public and private flags show our
participation, churches are open for those who want
a quiet place, and some schools canceled the
lessons and were together for reflection.
It's not possible to understand these acts.
But - being so bad and cruel, more than anyone would believe possible,
may be these events make even fundamentalists stop and think. Lets pray
for the victims and their families - and for a better world, where we can
live together in respect of each other and the differences we represent.

towers in October 99. This
is one of the shots I have, showing a famous view from a viewpoint
that disappeared.
