Men - Vibrandsøy og områdene rundt sundet som er oppkalt etter øya, har samtidig både idyller og muligheter. Stiftelsen Indre Kai disponerer og tilbyr har f.eks en fint opparbeidet og idyllisk, kommunal plass som mange benytter til "blåturer" og festligheter. På den andre siden av sundet inneholder Stålehuset (bildet over), engang sildesalteri, lager og eksporthavn for sild, meget trivelige og særegne restaurant- og konsertlokaler. Og så er båttrafikken i sundet med å sette en spiss på opphold her ute, bare 2-5 minutter med båt fra Indre kai. Herfra er utsikten over ytre havneområder og havet nord for byen praktfullt.

Last week our local paper, Haugesunds Avis, was focusing on how bad most properties on Vibrandsøy was kept. This site has focused on that fact, too.

But - the island Vibrandsøy and the sound with the same name in it, has more than that. Here you find both idyllic places and possiblities. The Inner Quay assosiation has a very nice municipal area for company tours and outdoor celebrations - frequently used during the summer season. On the town side of the sound, on Hasseløy, the Stålehuset (see picture above), finished in 1919 as the largest concrete house in Europe and used for herring production, now is used as a special restaurant and consert house. And - when celebrating and visiting these places, boats passing in the scenic sound makes the day (or night).
