| Med kongelig deltakelse ble
Trekantsambandet innviet ved en høytidelighet
i Gassasundet på Bømlo i dag. Bømlateateret stilte
med sin versjon av kong Harald den 1. ( Haralds Hårfagre ) som hilste
sin navnebror fra scenen.
Dermed er det slutt på ferjene som
har forbundet Bømlo med Stord og Bømlo med Valevåg
og Haugalandet. For nå kan folk kjøre "tørrskodd" gjennom
et anlegg som både knytter 2 naboøysamfunn sammen, men og
gir fastlandsforbindelse til øykommunene Stord og Bømlo.
1.650.000 arbeidstimer er nedlagt i de 3 hovedelementene i sambandet, Bømlafjordtunellen,
Bømlabroen og Stordbroen. Tilsammen har de kostet over 1.2 milliarder
kroner å bygge.

With HM king Harald present, the triangle
connection, connecting the Island communities Bømlo and Stord with
each other and the mainland. Until now, 2 ferry connections have been connectiong
Bømlo with Stord and Bømlo (Mosterhavn) with Valevåg
and Haugalandet. 1.650.000 hours of work has been used to make the 3 main
elements in the triangle: The Bømlo bridge, The Stord bridge and
the subsea tunnel to Sveio and Haugalandet.
