| Etter fredagens skipshavari
i Bleivik har det vårt ytt stor innsats for å begrense
skadevirkningene etter oljelekkasjer fra vraket. Heldigvis bedret været
seg betydelig lørdag, og dette har redusert spredningen av utslippene
til området omkring havaristedet. Det er lagt ut lenser for å
begrense spredningen både inne i selve Bleivik
og ute på Sletta. I løpet av helgen
har mannskapene lykkes med å fjerne 70-80 tonn tungolje og blanding
av olje og sjøvann. Usikkerheten nå knytter seg til de ca.
400 tonn olje som fremdeles befinner seg i vraket. Dette representerer
en stor miljøtrussel, ettersom vraket befinner seg så
nær land og i et område med mye sjøfugl. Og - sentrumsnære
områder
like nord for Haugesund havn er
svært utsatt!

There has been a considerable effort done
to reduce the oil spill damages to the surroundings after the "Green
Ålesund"- wreckage Friday 15. Due to the bettered
weather in the weekend, the spreading of the 70-80 ton discharge so
far has been limited to the Bleivik bay area,
making it possible to remove most of it. Oil booms have been installed
both to protect the inner parts of Bleivik, and on
Slettå to reduce spills to the Haugesund
northern harbor area. The lost ship still contain app. 400 tons of
oil, and represent a major challenge if a leakage occurs. It will be a
comprehensive environmental disaster - killing thousands of sea birds and
damaging the shores for months.
