| Det 130 meter lange fryseskipet
"Green Ålesund" gikk på land ved Havarivernskolen på
Bleivik tidlig i dag, og fikk så store skader at det sank i 14.30
tiden i ettermiddag. Mannskapet på 16 ble reddet av helikopter, og
tatt inn til skolen. Det lekker olje fra vraket, som har 500 tonn bunkers
o.l. ombord. Det er allerede lagt ut lenser i Bleivik, og kystvakten arbeider
nå med å legge havlenser som skal hindre oljen i å drive
sørover mot Kvalen og Gardsvik. Rapportene i ettermiddag kan type
på at vi står foran enda en oljekatastrofe langs våre
strender i dagene som kommer.
Skipet er lastet med frossenfisk, og var
på vei til Svartehavet.

The 130 m. long freezer ship "Green Aalesund"
ran ashore this morning just north of central Haugesund, by the resque
training centre called Havarivernskolen at Bleivik. At app. 2.30PM it sank,
and only the bottom section is visible later this afternoon, when we visited
the site. The whole thing seems to be caused by engine failure.
The ship has 3500 tons of frozen fish on
board, and was on its way to the Black sea. It has 500 tons of oil on board.
