Fra Garpeskjærskaien har vi utsikt
sørover Karmsundet, og nordover mot Slettå. Her kan vi se
store og små båter komme og gå, og alle har en skipper.
Sjøfartsbyen Haugesund har selvsagt hedret disse med en egen gate:
Skippergaten, en av byens travleste!

Street- and sea life, and a good idea?
When visiting the Garpeskjær quay,
we have panoramic view towards the Karmsund in west and south, and towards
the open ocean and Slettå in North. From here we can watch small
and bigger boats, vessels and ships all the time, all of them with a captain
on board. The maritime based town Haugesund certainly has honoured them
with their own street: Skippergaten. It's one of the busiest streets we
have.
