Tradisjonen tro -og etter mye hardt arbeid - åpnet sildebordet
i formiddag, omkranset av tusener av sultne Haugalendinger. For vi spiser
selvsagt ikke hjemmefrokost, når vi kan gjøre det i verdens
største, årvisse gratismåltid. Sunt er det og!
Ved åpningen virket det litt mindre folksomt enn normalt, men
det kom seg etterhvert. Dermed fikk folk prøve hvordan det er å
stå som "Sild i tønne". Spøk til side: egentlig fungerer
det utrolig bra - alle kommer til både 2 og flere ganger, og trekker
seg litt tilbake for å nyte bordets gleder (se bildene).
English:
One of the traditions in the August's of Haugesund is the Herring buffet
- called the worlds longest herring table. This years table was 360 m long
(2x180m). Some years ago, another west norwegian town made a longer table
than our's. Next year we fought back - and then they stopped competing.
We will always make our's longer than theirs, so dont try!!!!
