Her står "Hedlo" på skjæret!

English:
On the picture above, a ship called "Hedlo" is stuck on a rock. And it is steady. After 2 weeks of storms and high tide, it seems to be able to "survive" - giving us a new tourist attraction next summer.

Dec. 26 1999 "Hedlo" was on it's way northwards with a cargo of 900 ton's of steel, when a rough storm and very high tide made it possible to get stuck on almost dry land just south of the island Urter. The crew was saved by a rescue helicopter, but would have been safe if they stayed on board. The ship is still there, and even if the continuous large waves have been able to turn it 45 degrees on the rock, it seems stable. Inspectors have been on board, and report serious damage in the bottom of the ship. It will not be possible to save it. Now plans for removing it bit by bit is beeing discussed. But, as all fuel and oil has been removed, they hope it will be swept off the rock by a huge wave, and sink to the bottom (at no cost!).

The picture above was shot from Vardafjell. In my binocular I was able to  se the ship, but the photo equipment was not good enough for the distance. I observed that Kalstø on western Karmøy was the closest point, and almost "risked my life" in the very rough and rocky coast countryside on getting to a point as close to "Hedlo" as possible. Even from there, the ship was difficult to observe because of the distance. I have some pictures, and a couple of good other shots from the Kalstø coast area.
