 Haugesund Race Weekend, Friday race
It started off as far back as 1980, the Haugesund Race Weekend. As even the Sildajazz founder and general (until last year), Gunnar Jæger was an active sailer, he participated in getting a merge between the sites and days for the two events from 1987.
The last years, between 50 and 75 boats have been participating in this Jazz flavoured, maritime event. The boats have their base outside the Rica Maritime hotell in the Smedasundet, the waterway through central Haugesund.
There are races both Friday and Saturday. Below you find pictures shot in the Karmsund during the Friday race from Kopervik to Haugesund, through the historic areas called Nordvegen by the vikings. Later on, this became the bace of the name of our country (Noreg, Norge, Norwege, Norway, Norwegen)
