Del 1: God 17. mai tradisjon - Morgenprosesjonen
Forut for 2006-versjonen av 17. mai har det vært meldt regn. Men værmeldinger slår ikke alltid til. I skrivende stund, kl 10 på formiddagen, yrer det. Det gjorde det og under morgenprosesjonen. Men tro ikke at det reduserte deltakelsen. Nei - Haugesundere er sannsynligvis verdensmestere i å stille opp til dette stolte "Folketoget". For er det noe som er for alt folket, så er det nettopp Morgenprosesjonen. Tusenvisvis gikk, og noen hundre ble igjen til seremonien på Ludolf Eides plass, hvor kultursjef Gunnar Johan Løvik talte og la ned blomster.

 In the best of the May 17. traditions: The morning prosession
This years May 17 is forcasted to be wet. And . the weather seems to turn out just like that. In spite of very light rain, thousands took part in the morning prosession at 7 AM.

Det var usikker vær, men barnetoget ble skånt for byger. De fleste av barna var imidlertid klesmessig forberedt på regn, og derfor ble ikke denne 17. mai'en den helt store bunadsfesten. Men inni mellom var der gode eksempler. The Scool prosession and Folketoget
Not so many unprotected ( raincoats ) national costumes this May 17. That was due to the unsafe weather. The Scool prosession before noon passed without rain, but during the Folketoget at 3PM it rained heavily, as you will se from the pictures below.

Tre som ville i avisen. Jeg hadde ikke hjerte til å fortelle dem at de bare kom på nettet.
The pretty girls that wanted so badly to get their picture in the newspaper. I was not able to disappoint them with the sad fact that they only would get a place on the Internet. But - this was I'm sure they are seen world wide.
