Ola Flyttdagen er i ferd med å bli
innarbeidet blant Haugesundske begivenheter akkurat slik som Amandadagen,
Sildabordet og -jazzen. Og selv om det kanskje er et mindre arrangement
enn noen av de andre nevnte, er det en dag som setter fokus på ting
som har med byens historie å gjøre. Og historien, den skal
en ta vare på.
Dagen vil bli preget av ramsalte aktiviteter
i sundet og av sangerglede i byen. For i helgen er Haugesund preget av
sangerstevne, og 700 korister vil sette sitt preg gjennom en rekke arrangementer.
Ellers rapporteres det om Golfturnering på Kolnes og Torvastad -
og solen skinner som aldri før for tiden. Da må det bli en
fantastisk dag! Avisene plages av streik, men det gjør ikke
haugalandet Net! Vi stiller med fullt mannskap (*) for å skildre
denne viktige dagen!

This is the Ola Flytt day. Ola Flytt was
a man rowing passengers to and from the islands app 100 years ago. Until
the 1970's this Flytt (small passenger ferry) activity was kept alive.
Some years ago some enthusiastic men, among them Ole Hauge on the picture
above, decieded to try to keep the memories of these brave and rough men
that kept this important service running. They created the Ola Flytt foundation,
and they have recreated some of the boats that was in service the last
period. Today we celebrate for the 3. time the day they created, the Ola
Flytt day, named after the most reknown of these rowing men.
The day will be colored by the seaside
and seabased activities in the sound - and by hundreds of singers having
their choir festival in Haugesund this weekend. And on Kolnes and Torvastad,
golfers will have their tournament. I was out before 8 this morning, and
met a Smedasund as bright as ever. This day will be fantastic.
