Våt, nesten hvit jul

Almost white christmas. New snow - but now it is raining :-(

Hilsen Eirik Hustvedt

Våt men verdig 17. mai 2012

We were warned by the forecasts, but even on wet and cold May 17's, the children procession at 10AM use to have glimpses of  sun and no rain. The 2012 version was different. Rain and wind, all through the day, and with 6 C and wind, the felt temp was below zero. But the mood was good, as usual on May 17..... It ended up as a celebration that will be remembered :-)

Stort arkiv
Lite nytt for tiden pga redusert kapasitet. Beklager.
This site contains thousands of Haugesund region pictures and info from the period 1998-2011. Due to capasity lack (lost guts), there is little new at the moment. Sorry.

Vernet sjøhus

Feb 2012: En del av byens "skyline" er vernet, bl.a. et sjøhus like under (nord for) Risøy bru. Nå er det løftet inn på kaien. One of the most "famous" old seaside packhouses in Haugesund has been temporailiy moved, to repair its fundament. I will follow up this project as it develops.

"Vinterstemning"

Fine, or shall I say: Unusual winter, and not as the ones we had one and two years ago. Today som of us went for a hike on land. Others  took the boat: On a calm sea (Slettå)

The old steel ship MS Synova / Svanøy (built in Haugesund and refound in Gibraltar) that was prepared by entusiasts to be restored to its original condition, burned last week (Jan 11-2012). After the fire, they still hope to fullfill the project. See links below:

1997 (98) - 2012 = snart 15

January 16 in 1998, the first official issue of this site was published. Actually it started a couple of months earlier, when I made a simple site about church organs in Haugesund (it is still there:-). I bought my first digital camera, and started publishing a new pictures, almost every day. The Guestbook service of this site had far larger activity in the early years, when this site was one of the few possibilities to get "fresh impressions" from home. The service (guest book) was established after one year of site activity. In 1998, Åge Førre, US-based from Tysvær,  was one of the first to write a greeting in it, and - he was the very first from "over there" to contact me by email - just a few days after I started publishing pictures late 1998. He is still there, and sent a greeting some days ago.

The christmas snow has been removed by lots of rain. Since then, we have had snow on and snow off, with freezing nights and mild days, making roads very slippery. But Thursday, a glimpse of sun gave us hope. This weekend, however, shall be extremely wet!
